Disaster at Dieppe
Allied leaders have decided that the 2nd Canadian Infantry Division should start a raid on Dieppe, a French seaport on the English Channel.
The raid was a failure from the start.
-The Germans were able to see the Allies arriving at the shore, which then they could bomb them before they landed on shore.
-The beaches were not suitable for the Allied tanks.
-The landing sites were not planned well.
The raid was called off, only after 6 hours of battling.
